Classes & Function Systems

The nine function systems, what each does, and who plays them

In Soul Land: Awakening World your Martial Soul slots into one of nine function systems — the closest thing the game has to classes. Each system is a role: it decides whether you bind, burst, assassinate, tank or sustain. Here's all nine, with example characters, so you can find the playstyle that fits. In-game specifics are indicative.

Power (强攻)

Power-system spirit masters are the frontline damage dealers — raw single-target burst and the muscle to break through defenses. They want to be in the thick of it, trading blows. It's beginner-friendly and immediately satisfying.

Control (控制)

Control decides when fights happen. Binds, cages and domains lock enemies down and open clean windows for the team. It's the most forgiving role for clearing story content and the backbone of any coordinated group.

Agility (敏攻)

Agility-attack spirit masters are the assassins — extreme mobility, evasion and lethal single-target strikes. They dart in, delete a soft target, and slip out. High skill ceiling, high reward.

Defense (防御)

Defense is the wall. Tanks soak burst, peel for carries and — with the Black Tortoise lineage — even rebound damage. In team spirit-master combat an unbreakable defender is as decisive as any damage dealer.

Support (辅助)

Support — boost — doesn't deal the damage, it multiplies it. Attack, defense and speed amplification turn a capable team into an overwhelming one. Low mechanical stress, huge impact; protecting your carries is the job.

Healing (治疗)

Healers keep the team alive through long wars of attrition — and sustain wins those wars, letting aggressive cores play harder than they safely could alone. In practice it often overlaps with the Support and Food systems.

Food (食物)

A signature Soul Land system: Food-type souls conjure functional consumables — recovery, decoys, buffs and control utility. Low personal damage, enormous team value; Oscar's Sausage is its definitive face.

Strength (力量)

Strength-system souls lean on raw physical power and body enhancement, hitting hard and holding ground. A bruiser-adjacent role that rewards committing to melee and out-muscling the opposition.

Spirit (精神)

Spirit-system souls work on the mental and perceptual plane — spirit-attribute effects, control and detection that bypass conventional defenses. A rarer, more cerebral playstyle for players who like outthinking opponents.

Which class should I pick?

For a first character, a Control or Power core is the most forgiving and clears story smoothly — pair it with a Support or Healing teammate. Agility rewards mechanical skill; Defense and Support shine in groups. Don't overthink it: pick the playstyle you enjoy, and defer to the live tier list and banners for the strongest current options.
